It’s about time they rewarded him with some love on T.V.
Here’s the Subway spot you may have already seen:
And here’s the brand new Kia spot with some awesome footage of his now famous through-the-sun-roof-Baron-to-Blake-alley-oop-over-the-Optima-dunk. (My favorite part is watching him plant his left foot and seeing how close he comes to the car.)
So who’s going to be driving there new Optima to Subway for breakfast?
Well you’ve all heard by now that our beloved Beard&Blake combo is no more.
We’re sad to see both Baron and the resurrection of his career have been shipped off to die in Cleveland. We are excited to see Mo Williams, along with the return of Eric Gordon hopefully soon, spread the floor out even more for Blake. Not to mention Eric Bledsoe seems to have learned just enough from Baron before he was traded away.
I bet Baron Davis never thought his last pass to Blake Griffin would be through a sunroof #wontneedasunroofincleveland
In other news we have our own “trade” to announce here at QuakeGriffin.com.
On his way out is Mike Robinson aka @MrKnowledgeBomb who unfortunately has to move on due to the good old “real world” covering to much of his plate. He’s been great to have on board for the past month or so and a number of the cool Quake T-Shirts were from his creative mind. Hopefully he’ll find his way back here someday down the road. His new Twitter handle is @TheMikeRobinson and you’ll find him tweeting about his beloved Blazers most of the time.
On his way in, we are excited to announce that video editing wizard Maxamillion711, who you more likely know for his excellent work recently running TheBlakeGriffinShow Youtube page, is coming aboard as the official QuakeGriffin.com video editor. We’ll be launching a new QuakeGriffin youtube page sometime next week, which will be the place to go as soon as Blake throws down another “Quake.”
Lastly if any of you QuakeGriffin.com fans out there have an interest in joining the team here as a “highlight blogger” shoot me an e-mail at quakegriffin[at]gmail[dot]com or drop me a line in the comments.
Blake returned home to Oklahoma last night to take on the Thunder and needless to say he had Thunder fans salivating over the idea of him returning to play for his home state team in 2014.
Blake got it started early with this “Blornado’ alley-oop:
Next up Eric Bledsoe still needs to learn to “just throw it up there” when Blake is on the roll. This time it didn’t matter as Blake cleaned up the mess:
Then Blake had this amazing reverse lay-up in the 3rd quarter. Mike Smith thinks it’s Blake top 5 worthy. I’m not sure about top 5 but it may find itself in the top 10. Just shows how incredibly athletic he is.
Las but certainly not least was yet another “Blornado” Alley-Oop this time a Beard+Blake hook up where Blake almost kisses the rim on the jam. This one might be in the top 10 too. Watch how he catches it laying back and sideways
Blake simply destroyed the competition tonight with thunderous dunk after thunderous dunk. LA is gonna feel tremors for days that’s for sure as all four Sprite Slam Dunk contestants brought it for the first time in as many years as I can recount. Seriously, this dunk contest was amazing and as videos are made available we’ll post them here. Before Blake’s highlights below, a quick recap on the other contestants.
Now for the champ.
Arguably his best dunk Blake opened up with a 360 double cock hammer. Ouch.
Dunk #2 carried on with the theme of the season – Blake helping to rejuvenate Baron Davis’ career. You’d think Baron would take advantage of this opportunity but almost blew this dunk for the whole world. Luckily Blake is Blake.
Dunk #3 could possibly not be pulled of by any other current NBA player. Not only did Blake top Vince Carter 2000. He destroyed it. The self-alley-oop is difficult enough. Then Blake had to go and do this….the best part is when he later shows all the players on the sideline the new bruises on this elbow.
Dunk #4 was hyped on Twitter hours before the actual contest and I didn’t believe it would happen. Oh it happened alright. Blake took the D Howard theatrics to another level – the video speaks for itself.

A tough road trip continues on for Blake and the Clips. The visit to Milwaukee ended particularly cold tonight as the Bucks ran away with this one. Quake still provided us with a couple of classics. Here he continues to help Baron earn his paycheck by “throwing the ball near the rim.” I’m pretty sure Blake could make most PG’s in the league look amazing with finishes like this one.
Blake proves on this And 1 that if you let him get the ball anywhere near the rim just give up on the play and walk away – don’t try this at home.
